WHAT better way to make the dreams of 1,500 seriously-ill children come true than offering them a star-studded night of entertainment at London’s magical Royal Albert Hall.

Rays of Sunshine is a relatively new charity, formed eight years ago, striving to fulfill the wishes of youngsters with serious or life-limiting illnesses.

But as the sunshine faded across London and crowds packed inside the splendid Albert Hall, the worries of hundreds of parents were forgotten as their loved ones became captivated by the best talent Britain has to offer.

With acts ranging from X-Factor superstars JLS and Leona Lewis to Diversity and Spellbound of Britain’s Got Talent fame, there was something for everyone.

Chart-topping Pixie Lott, X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke and The Voice finalist Jaz Ellington also put in top performances while upcoming singers Adam Lambert, Conor Maynard and girl-group Stooshe completed the lineup.

The screams and cries as four-piece JLS came onstage did not subside as they performed their set, show-casing a series of intricately arranged dance moves and back-flipping their way across the stage at times. Beat Again, Everybody in Love, She Makes Me Wanna – they did all the classics. Teenage girls screamed for more as they closed the show in what was without doubt one of the most energetic sets I’ve ever seen.

Pixie Lott, one of the few non-talent show based acts on the bill, preceded JLS. She demonstrated her fantastic vocal abilities and was the first performer of the night to pull every member of the audience to their feet.

A personal highlight of the shows first half must be Leona Lewis, who sung a note-perfect rendition of Bleeding Love, reminding everyone why she has been chosen to sing at the Olympic Games opening ceremony this summer.

I’ve no doubt in saying many dreams came true on this night and everyone performing did themselves proud.
