TRINITY Laban tutor and renowned European saxophonist Julian Siegel has won a top jazz award.
Recognising the talent and dedication of musicians in the capital, the London Jazz Award for Art and Performance was given to Siegel by the London Festival Fringe for his latest album Urban Theme Park.
The judges praised the teacher at the Deptford conservatoire of music and dance for his class and elegance, claiming his album was, "a polished, subtle but engagingly vigorous piece of work."
Simon Purcell, head of the jazz department at Trinity Laban, said: “Julian is a deserving winner of this award, because it recognises his skill as a great improviser, and also because of his outstanding role as a major artistic voice in this city and beyond.”
