GREENWICH bands Squeeze and Status Quo will join Mark Ronson and the Business International in headlining this year's Summer Sessions musical festival at the Old Royal Naval College.
After the success of last year's inaugural event, the eclectic series of open air concerts in the heart of historic Greenwich will return for six days, from July 26 to July 31.
Other top acts confirmed include Irish punk folk heroes The Pogues and The Divine Comedy.
Squeeze, who performed their first gig at nearby Borough Hall in Royal Hill more than 35 years ago, are looking forward to performing on home turf again.
Speaking at the Summer Sessions launch yesterday, founding band member Chris Difford said: "The gig is something of a homecoming for us and I'm really looking forward to playing here. It's a fantastic venue."
Despite former Squeeze musician Jools Holland wowing revellers at last year's event, Difford says he doesn't feel any pressure to compete with his old friend.
He said: "I adore Jools and what he does. I think his show is amazing and whenever I have taken part in it, I feel a part of his family.
"Whenever he returns with Squeeze again we will return the love I'm sure."
Difford hinted at a reunion with Holland soon.
"I'd love for him to join us on stage, but not this year. I'd love it to happen and possibly the Olympic year would be the right year."
