WITH a new TV show, a new series of an old favourite and a baby on the way, these are exciting times for Laura Hamilton.

The 31-year-old from Meopham will front a Channel 4 programme called Beat My Build, due to air in September.

In each episode two people who are renovating properties go head-to-head to see who can make the most profit.

Laura said: “It is great because every episode has a winner and a result. Some are experienced renovators and some have never done it before and there are some really funny characters.”

She added: “Beat My Build is really exciting because it is the first show that I’ve done that is a brand new commission that I’m putting my name to.”

The show is a good fit for the former Dartford Grammar School for Girls pupil, who has been renovating houses since she was 19.

She said: “I think times have changed now in terms of TV, you can’t present property shows if you’re not a bit of an expert.

“I’m not trying to say I know everything, I don’t, but you do need a bit of a background and expertise.  I bought when I was 19 and renovated eight houses and I’m still doing it.

“You have to know, because you’re offering advice to people.”

As well as Beat My Build, Laura has been busy filming for Daybreak, a new series of Fort Boyard, writing travel features for the Daily Mail and blogs for Hello.

She is also due to start filming again for 22 episodes of A Place in the Sun in September, not to mention the fact she is expecting a child with husband Alex.

She said: “Next year, the baby’s coming with me while I film A Place in the Sun, and family will be on hand while I’m filming.

“I’m very lucky that I have got a mum and dad, and a very supportive mother and father-in-law and neither couple work so they are saying ‘we’ll support you and come out’.

She added:” There are lots of presenters that have families and continue to work. At the same time I don’t want to put my family life on hold for work.

“I think while the baby is a baby, that’s the best time to be able to travel around and do things before I need to be getting into nurseries.

“Lots of people say it is great to expose the baby to lots of different things.”
