AN ERITH singer is celebrating “a dream come true” after having a number one on an American radio station and getting through to the regional final of a competition.
Wayne Jacobs of Erith will be singing live for the regional final of Britain Does Variety on May 18 in Southend, Essex.
He auditioned on March 3 in front of four music industry judges and sung his award-winning Smiley Face which was a finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest last year.
If he manages to get a place in the grand final he will perform at the O2 in Greenwich and it will be broadcast live on Sky TV.
The 51-year-old is also ecstatic to have his song at number one on Nashville’s Tennessee Wildhorse Country Radio.
The tune I Want My Daddy is based on the real life story of an American fire fighter from Kentucky who was saved by his wife after a car crash.
Mr Jacobs said: “I’m so excited about this – it’s a dream come true.”
