BECAUSE my TV does not have built-in Freeview and I only have a DVD player, I decided to buy a digibox with a hard drive for recording programmes.
The Humax offers a massive 100 hours of recording time.
It's an excellent piece of kit for £180, because it allows users to hit a single button to set the record on the machine's Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), which provides listings for all the Freeview channels a week in advance.
Users can also access digital radio channels and use a hidden card slot to access paid-for channels such as Setanta.
The picture quality of recordings is great, while a dual tuner means you can record two programmes at once.
What I really like is the fact I bought the machine a couple of years ago and it has been replaced since by Humax - but the company did not forget people who had the old models.
My machine has been upgraded for free over the airwaves so it has everything the new model has, including the ability to get it to record whole series, so you don't end up missing an episode.
Humax deserves credit for not forgetting previous customers.
