This was one of the shortlisted entries in the Halloween spooky story contest run by News Shopper and The Walnuts shopping centre in Orpington.
Holding his breath he stopped in his tracks and slowly, carefully turned his head and screamed. He quickly turned around then started running, as fast as he could.
He didn’t exactly know where he was going but running was the only thing on his mind.
A few minutes later they were still behind him. Sam came across a big mansion. He ran in and locked the huge door. He peered out of one of the massive windows.
Sam could see them crawling up the rock hard stairs. Sam didn’t know what to do but they were coming in. Sam could hear them forcing the door open. As they came in he was ready for them. He had found a big chest of armour and weapons. He put it on and got a gun out.
He didn’t know what he was doing. As they drew closer to him he fired the gun and it hit a ting goblin. Then he just stood there. He remembered his mum saying “be safe, don’t get in to trouble, love you”, by this time the zombie had got him by the throat and nearly killed him. But he shot his legs off and ran up stairs.
The wooden steps creaked with every touch Sam made. He was on the landing and he found a letter saying “whoever reads this shall get their life bad things will happen from….”
He went into that room and cried. All of a sudden noises came “Sam Sam Sam you will die ha ha ha mwha ha ha.”
The window swang open and a ghostly sprit filled the room and said “die die die”.
“What’s going on” cried Sam. “Nothing only your death,” whispered the ghost.
“I don’t want to die I’m too young,” sobbed Sam.
“You will die some day and that day is to day.”
“I hear the zombies,” Sam said in fright.
He heard talking in the next room and went in. There was man in there.
"Sir do you know what’s happing here. There’s zombies, goblins, ogres, even ghosts!” Sam said nervously.
"There’s no such thing as ghosts boy,” laughed the man.
"Follow me then,” said Sam.
Sam took him into a room that he had never been in. In it was zombies and massive ogres. The man ran in and screamed “zombies.”
The zombies grabbed the mans hand and put their fingers up his nose and yanked the mans brains out of him. Then they opened his stomach and ate all his organs.
Sam ran out crying and screaming. He ran down the creaky stairs and into another room. He just stood in fright. There ahead of him was a big green fat mouldy slug. There was no way out.
Now the slug drew closer and closer to Sam and he tried to escape. He got out by crawling out of a little gap and he ran towards his house and tried to forget all about it.
When he was walking home his family and friends had a Halloween party at his house, they were all dressed up as monsters. As he staggered home, he could feel breath on his skin and found a letter saying “you will stay the same!”
He wondered what it meant, so he ignored it and carried on walking. As he got home he told his mum and best friend what had happened. After he went down stairs and the whole room was full of monsters. He was the only human there. As he reached the end of the stairs he turned into a werewolf because he had dressed as one.
After ten minutes they stayed the same forever. Ever. Ever.
