It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but for many families Christmas can be a struggle.
Patients and doctors at one Bexleyheath doctors have taken it upon themselves to put smiles on children’s faces this year.
For the third year, Dr M Thavapalan and Partners in Heath Road, Bexleyheath, asked patients to donate presents for those children less fortunate.
Health care practitioner Carla Williams, who organised the drive, said: “We were overwhelmed with everyone’s presents.
“What you can’t see in the picture is the amount of clothes donated as well. It’s all from patients, it is getting bigger every year.”
Carla said that they had more presents this year than ever.
“I’m pleased with the amount of people who want to put smiles on children’s faces.
“They will be distributed to those who need them by the Health Visiting team from Brampton Road, given to those families who struggle at Christmas. Not everybody can afford even a charity shop.”
Patients donated unwanted teddies, toys and games for three weeks – enough to fill the surgery.
“It’s something we will definitely be doing again”, Carla said.
