TELEVISION screens across the country will be tuned in to this year’s BRIT Awards tonight hosted by music royalty Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne.
The rumoured five-minute time delay should avoid any explicit remarks being aired but I think audiences should be more concerned about interpreting what Ozzy's saying, never mind his potty
mouth.
Acts including the mighty Macca, Kylie, Mark Ronson and Rihanna are all lined up to perform at the elegance-meets-punk-themed ceremony.
Mika, Leona Lewis and Take That lead the way this year with all three acts shortlisted for four awards apiece but I’m more excited by the likes of Bat for Lashes, Jamie T and the Klaxons.
Without a shadow of a doubt Best British Album deservedly goes to Mark Ronson who is also up for Best Male Solo Act, but I think Jamie T should have this award in the bag.
I would love Bat for Lashes to pick up Best Female Solo Act but I think it will go to newcomer Kate Nash.
British Group has to go to the Monkeys but Editors could pose a surprise threat.
Valerie by Mark Ronson featuring Amy Winehouse should beat off competition from The Hoosiers and Leona Lewis to scoop the Single of the Year.
I am putting my faith in like-minded Radio 1 listeners to vote Klaxons Best British Breakthrough Act, failing that, Bat for Lashes. But I’ve got a sneaky suspicion Kate Nash will pip them to
the post.
I’m torn as to who I think will win the International Album of the Year. It’s between Arcade Fire for Neon Bible or Kings of Leon for Because of the Times for me but think the Foos will
get it.
