Cutty Sark, King William Walk, Greenwich

The world's sole surviving tea clipper can be viewed in a dry dock on the river's edge at Greenwich.

Launched in 1869, Cutty Sark's name comes from Robert Burns' poem, Tam O'Shanter.

The Cutty Sark has been in Greenwich since 1954 and open to the public since 1957.

Since then more than 15 million people have visited the much-loved vessel.

The Cutty Sark is currently undergoing a major conservation programme and so there is no public access to the ship.

Adjacent to the Cutty Sark is a pavilion where visitors can learn about the conservation techniques and future plans for the ship.

Work on the Cutty Sark was dealt a blow in May 2007 when a major fire broke out on board the ship.
