Royal Observatory, Greenwich Park

Explore the wonders of time, space and astronomy at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.

Stand in both the eastern and western hemispheres by placing your feet either side of the Prime Meridian line (longitude 0 0' 0'').

The Observatory is home of Greenwich Mean Time, the official starting point for each new day, year and millennium.

Founded by Charles II in 1675, the Observatory is one of the most important historic scientific sites in the world. The Observatory houses an important collection of scientific instruments as well as a planetarium.
