TOM Toal knows what it is like to be left on the scrapheap.

The 23-year-old, from Bexleyheath, has had an emotional rollercoaster of a year after he was dumped by his childhood sweetheart.

Now the stand-up comedian is taking the story of how he is rebuilding his life to the stage at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Full of hilarious tales of lads' holidays in Magaluf and disastrous blind dates, the show is a reflection on Tom's first experience of life as a single man.

He pins his hopes on lonely hearts ads, spends his nights at karaoke bars and writes desperate love letters to newly-single celebrities as he copes with losing "the one".

It is a show about life, love and moving on that will strike a chord with anyone who has ever lost the love of their life.

Tom - a former pupil of St Columba's Catholic Boys' School, in Bexleyheath - is a regular on the south east's stand-up circuit.

Tom Toal On The Scrapheap is his Fringe debut show.

He said: "When I was first dumped I didn't want to talk to anyone - now I'm ready to open my heart to a roomful of strangers.

"This show is a comfort blanket for anyone who's ever had to cope with a break-up. It's like Sex and the City... without the sex!"

Tom Toal On The Scrapheap runs at Laughing Horse @ Newsroom, at 5-11 Leith Street, Edinburgh, at 2.15pm daily from August 5 to August 29.

Entry is free.
