IT WILL be a 360 degree change of perspective for Greenwich singer Amanda Bell when she takes to the indigO2 stage for a starring role in the Thank You for the Music show.
When the talented singer isn’t performing on tour with the hit concert show, she often finds herself among the audience at The O2 in North Greenwich.
“In between touring the world with Thank You for the Music, I handle bookings for a top London agency,” says Amanda.
“My work brings me to The O2 on a regular basis.”
The performer says the indigO2 show is her first home-town gig.
She said: “To say I know my way around the venue is an understatement.
“Forget the dance routines and lyrics, the trickiest thing I will have to remember is to enter by the stage door and not the foyer,” she laughs.
Amanda plays Anni-Frid Lyngstad – Frida – in Thank You for the Music.
She is a member of a cast that has been performing Abba’s 17 top ten hits longer than the original members of Abba did in their 70s and early 80s heyday.
Two top concert shows – Abba Magic and Bee Gees Magic – combine in box office hit Thank You for the Music to bring to life the million-selling hits of Abba and the Bee Gees.
The Abba Magic show is now enjoying its 16th fabulous year.
Britain’s longest-running Abba concert show authentically revives a musical phenomenon that – partly thanks to the success of film and West End musical Mamma Mia! – is as popular today as it was more than 30 years ago.
Mamma Mia! The Movie, starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth, was the surprise smash hit of last year.
And there’s no sign of its popularity diminishing – the O2 Arena is showing special screenings of the film on January 24 next year.
