The excitement of Christmas is building, but all too often there’s a certain sense of predictability about the festive period.

Every year you’ll eat way too much with family and friends, and fall soundly asleep in front of endless repeats of Morecambe and Wise and re-runs of The Great Escape. So this year perhaps it’s time for something different.

Most of us are fairly lazy over the holidays, so maybe this is the year you should get out and sample The Great Outdoors.

Christmas time is perfect for spotting migrating birds, and you’re much more likely to see some of our native fauna when there aren’t as many people around.
