COMPETITION: Win Total Madness and reissued One Step Beyond CD albums

News Shopper has three pairs of fantastic albums from Madness to give away.

The first album is Total Madness which brings together 30 years of classic singles from North London’s Nutty Boys.

Madness hold the record for British single sales in the 1980s when more than six million singles were sold.

Their string of top 10 hits are part of the lifeblood of British popular music. Their ability to document serious issues within seemingly sweet pop songs can be heard in the likes of The Smiths, Blur, Arctic Monkeys and a host of other huge acts that followed their appearance in the late 70s.

This collection is the ultimate Madness best of and a great introduction to or reminder of one of the UK’s most cherished bands.

The album spans the band’s debut single The Prince through to NW5, the lead track from their recent The Liberty Of Norton Folgate album.

It also contains all their classic singles including Yesterday’s Men, Our House, Baggy Trousers, It Must Be Love, Wings Of A Dove, One Step Beyond, Night Boat To Cairo, Grey Day and My Girl.

To accompany the audio disc, Total Madness also features a DVD of the classic videos for all tracks save for Madness, which was not a single.

The second album is the reissued version of Madness’s vintage debut One Step Beyond with extra tracks.

Released in November 1979, the album peaked at number two in the UK chart and stayed in the top 40 for more than a year.

Thirty years from that initial release and with Madness as vital as ever, One Step Beyond finally gets a reissue that encompasses the original album alongside a host of extras guaranteed to appeal to the lifelong Madness fan and the newcomer in equal measure.

Videos for the singles The Prince, My Girl, Night Boat To Cairo and One Step Beyond, and non-single Bed And Breakfast Man, sit with the original album tracks on CD1, while CD2 features a John Peel Session including Lee Thompson’s Land Of Hope And Glory (about his borstal experiences) and a host of bonus tracks from original single versions and B-sides of key tracks to live tracks from the Dance Craze film and highlights from the Work Rest And Play EP.
