A popular restaurant in Orpington in business for over 25 year's that’s “visited weekly” by celebrities is “delighted” after being named a top romantic eating spot.
Chapter One in Orpington was named as one of OpenTable’s top 100 Romantic Restaurants for 2023.
The finalists are selected based on over 1.2 million OpenTable diner reviews, using metrics such as dinner ratings, percentage of reservations made in advance and five-star ratings.
The restaurant is run by owners Marcel Faulstich and Andrew McLeish, who bought the restaurant in 2017, although the restaurant itself has been in business since 1998, marking 25 years in business.
The building, located in Farnborough Common in Orpington, has been operating as a restaurant since the 1920s according to Marcel.
Today, the décor stills nods towards its historical roots with references to the era, including an art deco style bar.
The restaurant offers modern European cuisine, featuring a tasting menu along with a selected wine menu and cocktails list.
Alongside fine dining, the restaurant also offers a more casual dining experience, featuring their Brasserie menu of classic dishes such as fish and chips, and steak dishes available for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Saturday.
Managing partner, Marcel Faulstich said: “At Chapter One we've created a first-class dining experience that's contemporary and cosmopolitan - inspired modern-European cooking making the most of fresh, seasonal ingredients. In the restaurant, you'll receive a fine dining experience with regularly changing menus offering outstanding quality and variety.”
According to Marcel, Chapter One is also a favourite amongst celebrities and normally hosts a celebrity diner on a weekly basis.
He added “Chapter One is blessed with a wide variety of guests, from famous football players, Olympians, politicians, iconic rockstars to centenarians who still visit Chapter One every week.

Over the years the restaurant has won a number of awards, including TripAdvisor's top 10% of the world's best restaurants, 3 AA rosettes and Best Restaurant of Kent.
