Brockley is on the up – and that’s official according to Samantha Cook of JRProperty estate agents.

“People want to live in a desirable area that’s just a 10-minute walk from the station, within easy access of London and in a safe place to live – and that is precisely what Brockley offers,” she said.

JRProperty is experiencing very high demand for properties, with buyers outstripping sellers Sam says. And the regeneration of Brockley could turn it into London’s latest hot spot – which is why JRProperty expanded into the area eight months ago.

Samantha, who has worked in property management for several years in Lewisham, says all the signs of gentrification are there.

“People renting and buying are really attracted to houses in the conservation area. They want high ceilings, cornicing, original fireplaces and other period features,” she said.

The rental side has also seen a demographic change, with JRProperty seeing alot more city professionals registering. The reopening of the East London overground line through Brockley has given the area a huge boost, meaning locals can choose between a 10-15 minute mainline rail or overground journey into London. Samantha predicted that just as Greenwich has been completely transformed in recent years, Brockley too is looking like a prime area to invest in property – and with it still being possible to buy a sizeable period two bedroom home for around £300,000 now might be the time to see what the area offers.
