Work has begun on a development to build over 60 affordable homes in Greenwich The design and build scheme at Creek Road, beside Up The Creek comedy club, will provide a combination of 83 homes and 62 of these will be affordable housing.

As part of the scheme, the top floor of Up The Creek will also be renovated.

Family Mosaic, the owners of the housing development will be working with Bouygues UK construction company to deliver the £20m project.

Angela Wood, development director at Family Mosaic, said: "We're very excited that works have now commenced to build this scheme and are proud that it will deliver a significant number of affordable homes."

The development will be built on the site of derelict homes and a disused car wash which will be demolished.

John Campion, regional director for housing in London at Bouygues UK said that the development at Creek Lane was a very complex project which will involve the construction of new homes with which will address different housing needs.

Demolition and excavation work is currently underway at the site and construction is scheduled to being next year, with the new homes expected to be finished in the fourth quarter of 2016.
