A Sidcup firm is hoping for success with the launch of its first product which is 95 per cent recyclable. Hum Design has just launched JOT-it , a hand-sized clip-board device designed to help with supermarket shopping. It has a small notepad, pencil, trolley release coin, embedded fridge magnet and clip to attach it to a trolley handle.

Care charity Avante believes in caring for the environment as well as vulnerable people and tries to replace all trees shrubs removed from its sites. So when a rowan tree in the grounds of the new Riverdale Court in Dovedale Close, Welling, now nearing completion, was blown down in recent gusty winds, Arthur Wilson one of Riverdale’s new residents, was invited to help plant a new rowan tree in the grounds.

London’s River Thames has won the international Theiss River prize, beating other contestants from all over the world. From being biologically dead in the 1950s, the Thames now has 125 different fish species. The £220,000 award will go to the Thames Rivers Restoration Trust.
