YOUNGSTERS and staff at a nursery have been making improvements to their outdoor area.
The Redcliffe Nursery in Erith Road, Belvedere received a £50 grant from environment campaign, Action Earth, sponsored by Morrisons to buy gardening tools and materials.
Chris Foster, a volunteer gardener at the nursery applied for the grant as part of an ongoing project to make improvements to the nursery’s outdoor area.
Nursery manager, Lilian Piddington said: “With the grant we bought shrubs, plants, gardening tools and wind chimes to improve our baby garden for children aged 4 months to 2-year-olds.”
Mrs Piddington along with Mrs Foster and a group of six two-year-olds spent the day on Tuesday (JUNE 16) tidying the garden, digging out weeds, and planting seeds and shrubs.
The nursery also received an Action Earth grant last year to create a wildlife garden.
For more details about Action Earth and how to apply for a grant visit csv.org.uk. Deadline for applications is July 7.
