SHOP workers in Welling turned out in force to help clean up the streets.
A group of 25 volunteers cleaned up an alleyway behind shops in Bellegrove Road, Welling which is identified as a hot spot for fly tipping.
The clean up was part of the London Capital Clean Up campaign, aimed at inspiring people to get involved with cleaning up areas that have been blighted with litter, fly tipping and graffiti.
It was organised by the Falconwood and Welling Safer Neighbourhoods policing team.
PC Chris Molnar said: “I am delighted with the efforts shown by everyone who took part.
“Hopefully the alleyway will be looked after and we are asking all traders and residents to ensure the alley gates are kept locked in future to prevent access from fly tippers.”
During the three hour clean up the team cut back overgrown brambles and removed several tons of rubbish.
