BEXLEY Scout Group, based in the United Reformed Church in Hurst Road, Bexley Village, was one of the local groups to take part in this year’s Thames Watch.
The project, aimed at children aged between five and 11, is a joint annual event organised by the Thames River Group in conjunction with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
Aimed at encouraging youngsters to get out and explore the River Thames and learn more about its wildlife, children are supplied with survey sheets of birds and wildlife to look out for, depending on which stretch of the river they are exploring.
The Bexley Swallows Cub pack spent their time on Erith marshes near Crossness.
Nineteen youngsters from the pack walked along the Thames Path spotting cormorants and grebes.
Their most common sightings were shelduck and the black headed gull.
Their results will be put into a lucky draw, together with all the others and those picked will enjoy a boat trip on the Thames or the London canals
