Green groups visit festival

ENVIRONMENTAL campaigners could not resist an audience of more than 30,000 people when it came to getting their message across.

A variety of environmental groups took stalls at this year's Danson Festival to showcase their activities and encourage others to take part.

The community zone provided the opportunity for organisations such as Friends of Danson Park, Friends of Foots Cray Meadows and the Bexley Federation of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners to spread their message.

Also in action in the environment section was the Bexley Schools Waste Action Club, reinforcing its message of reduce, reuse, recycle.

It offered various activities for children, including beanbags decorated with pictures of different items of rubbish which children had to throw into the right recycling bin.

Children were also able to make their own badges decorated with the club's three Rs message.
