Green makeover for Bromley Fire Station to help London Fire Brigade save £80,000

A GREEN makeover at a fire station is set to help London Fire Brigade cut its carbon emissions and its energy bills by £80,000 a year.

Bromley fire station is one of 10 across the capital which has been fitted with solar panels, motion sensored lights and energy efficient boilers.

It is expected these energy saving measures will lead to the building in South Street, Bromley, emitting 20 per cent less carbon per year.

This is part of the Mayor of London Boris Johnson’s RE:FIT programme to make public buildings greener.

The mayor said: “This scheme not only saves the fire brigade and the taxpayer a huge £80,000 a year in energy bills that can be better spent keeping Londoners safe, but it helps cut our carbon emissions too.”
