RESIDENTS have celebrated their road being named Lewisham's first eco street.
On September 25 the Rockbourne Triangle in Forest Hill was picked by Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock, following a competition in August where Lewisham Council asked people to nominate a street for an environmental makeover.
Residents' rewards will include a free energy assessment for each home, advice on how to reduce energy consumption and increase recycling on the road.
Clean-up events will be held and a car club will be set up for the road.
The triangle, which includes Stanstead Road, Rojack Road, Rockbourne Road, and Montrose Way was nominated because, over the past two years, around 50 residents had worked together to create a community garden which was completed in July.
Over 350 local residents attended a street party in the summer to celebrate.
