Waterway champions wanted

A PROJECT to encourage more young people into volunteering has been launched by
waterways charity Thames21.
The Waterway Champions project has received funding from v - the national youth volunteering programme - and its aim is to encourage young people aged between 16 and 25 to volunteer and help clean up London's waterways.
The project will help turn London's waterways, such as the Thames, River Cray and Thamesmead canals, into nicer places, improve the environment and give the young people taking part valuable skills for the future.
A recent clean-up event in Southmere Lake, Thamesmead, yielded a video player and a
trampoline among the litter.
Anyone interested in becoming a waterways
champion can log onto waterwaychampions.org
