A WORKSHOP has been held to promote the benefits of compost.
As part of Compost Awareness Week, which
finished on May 10, Lewisham Council held the workshop at the civic suite in Lewisham Town Hall, Catford.
The 14 people who attended were shown how to make compost correctly.
A lucky few were also given free compost bins.
Councillor Susan Wise, cabinet member for customer services, said: "Not only is composting a great way to nourish your garden, but by composting you can cut down on the amount of waste which goes to landfill. Be kind to your garden and compost. You would be surprised how easy it is."
Compost Awareness Week was held to encourage more people to recognise the benefits of home
composting and the results which can be achieved
by using peat-free compost containing recycled
material.
