Green Guardian
Gardening heroes can win prizes
A GARDENING competition where you do not need a garden to enter has been launched.
The Conservative Foundation is looking for London's 50 unsung gardening heroes whose green corners make the capital a brighter, greener and healthier place to live.
Any green space is eligible to enter for an award, provided it can be seen by more than just its owner.
The foundation's director and co-founder, David Shreeve, said: "From cleverly planted window boxes, pots and rooftop gardens to urban spaces, community gardens, public buildings and whole streets, any green space can make a positive difference to the plant, bird, insect and animal life which thrives and survives here."
Prizes include gardening gift vouchers and an engraved trowel.
The closing date for entries is July 14.
