Get a more efficient cooker

Choose your cooker wisely. Large, new ranges use a lot of power and are usually poorly insulated.

Gas cookers and stoves use half the energy of electric ones, but for those who prefer an electric cooker, ceramic hobs are more efficient than rings.

The most efficient cooker however, is a non-electric Aga or Rayburn. Made of cast iron, they are extremely well insulted and combine to cook food as well as heat the home.
