THE annual Bexley College Celebration of Success Awards has celebrated the efforts of its hard-working students.
The event was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Bexley, Councillor Ray Sams and Mrs Sams, the Chief Executive of Bexley Council Mr Will Tuckley and Bexleyheath and Crayford MP David Evennett.
More than 70 individual awards were presented to deserving students from the college, in recognition of their hard work and commitment to study.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of a cheque for £1,594 to Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
The money was raised by Stefan Bracher, a Bexley student who completed a BTEC iMedia course at the college last year.
Stefan and his fellow learners organised and contributed to lots of fundraising activities throughout the year, including wearing fancy dress, sponsored walks, selling cakes and even selling Christmas kisses!
Stefan paid tribute to the fantastic work of Demelza House in Sittingbourne, and the new Eltham-based Our Child project which is currently under construction.
He said: "It is not like a hospice - Demelza provides so much fun for the children it cares for. It is an inspiration to me."
