ASPIRING dancers from secondary schools across Bexley and Greenwich put their best feet forward in a London-wide competition.

Twelve schools from Bexley and nine from Greenwich took part in competitions hosted at Townley Grammar School and St Paul’s Academy on May 8 and 10.

The pupils competed to win a spot at the Step into Dance Live! 2012 show at the Southbank Centre in July and showed off a range of moves from hip hop and contemporary dance to musical theatre.

They have been practising for months with specialist teachers as part of the Step into Dance programme, which is organised by the Royal Academy of Dance and the Jack Petchy Foundation.

Programme director Sue Goodman said: “All of the schools participating showed fantastic community spirit and put on a show-stopping performance.

"Their hard-work and determination has really paid off after months of rehearsing. It’s going to be so tough to narrow them down; it’s a truly exciting time for us all.”
