A SCHEME where school pupils help fellow students with their maths studies has multiplied a school’s GCSE success.

Business Academy Bexley pioneered a scheme where 25 A or A* grade Year 11 pupils helped 30 of their colleagues to pass GCSE maths exams, sat in March.

Afsana Begum got an F grade in Christmas mock exams, but with the help of the so-called Junior Maths Executives, achieved a B in the real thing.

Afsana said: "It gave me the opportunity to make a great friend whilst improving my Maths."

Head teacher Mr Guy Nichols said: "The Junior Maths Executives have been truly inspirational. I’m so proud of their achievements."
