Bexley Council claims most borough children looking for a secondary school place for September, will be going to one of their top choice schools.
The council says 93 per cent of children have been given a place at one of their top three school choices this year.
And 78 per cent of children have a place at their first choice school, compared with 74.6 per cent last year.
This year, Bexley children have had an extra secondary school to choose from, the new Haberdashers’ Aske’s Crayford Academy in Iron Mill Lane, which takes its first Year 7 pupils in September.
Bexley Council cabinet member for schools, Councillor Simon Windle said: “I recognise a small percentage will be disappointed but, as always in this situation, we will work with parents to do everything we can to make sure these children are allocated places as soon as possible.”
