BEXLEY: Majority of children get chosen school places

Bexley Council claims most borough children looking for a secondary school place for September, will be going to one of their top choice schools.

The council says 93 per cent of children have been given a place at one of their top three school choices this year.

And 78 per cent of children have a place at their first choice school, compared with 74.6 per cent last year.

This year, Bexley children have had an extra secondary school to choose from, the new Haberdashers’ Aske’s Crayford Academy in Iron Mill Lane, which takes its first Year 7 pupils in September.

Bexley Council cabinet member for schools, Councillor Simon Windle said: “I recognise a small percentage will be disappointed but, as always in this situation, we will work with parents to do everything we can to make sure these children are allocated places as soon as possible.”

My son passed his 11+ and didn't get my son didn't get any of his four choices instead he has been offered a place at a school that I wouldn't dream of sending him to! we are discriminated against because we live on the border of bexley . I fear my son will end up without the opportunities he deserves because his full time hard working parents cannot afford to move to the middle of bexley borough
