A 17-YEAR-OLD has won a national poetry competition for her performance reading a poem she had penned herself.
Sarah Olowofoyeku is head girl at Bromley High School’s sixth form and recorded a one minute video of herself performing her poem on the theme of identity.
Her entry was good enough to win the Kent Regional Slambassadors competition organised by the BBC and The Poetry Society.
She then joined five other regional winners for a weekend masterclass at The Poetry Society in Covent Garden.
Sarah said: “It was a jam-packed weekend and such an enjoyable experience that I'd do it all over again without a second thought.”
Head of sixth form at the school in Blackbrook Lane, Bickley, Jan Dick, added “This was a truly inspirational event.”
