COURSE:
National Diploma in Animal Management
WHERE?
Hadlow College, Mottingham
PERIOD:
Full time, two years
Entry onto the course:
You need 4 GCSEs, Grade A - C, and must have English, Science and Maths.
Reasons for choosing the course:
This course will help me
advance onto the next level of the
career path I am following. Ultimately, I would like to be a vet and this level of study is a stepping stone from which to launch my studies.
Areas the course covers:
The course involves taught lessons and practical work with animals.
We study animals of all sizes and learn how to care and provide for them properly. Modules include aquatics, practical animal handling, exotics, business management, breeding and wildlife rehabilitation. I am also doing work experience at Foal Farm, Biggin Hill.
The other students:
The site's small size makes it easy to become acquainted with students studying
different courses. My classmates are mostly, but not all, female and we all get on well socially.
Atmosphere:
The college is small but caring, with a lot of heart. Everything you need to learn about animal care is readily available.
The future:
I hope to progress to the University of Greenwich to study more practical science for a year. I would then like to enroll at the Royal Veterinary College for their six year course.
