A ROCK star has paid tribute to the "guardian angel" who rescued him when he blacked out.
Roger LaVERN, keyboard player with 50s acts The Tornados and Billy Fury, was walking towards his home in Mays Hill Road, Shortlands, along a raised pavement in Glassmill Lane when he felt faint.
As the 70-year-old, who features on Billy Fury's album which hit number 10 in the charts last week, fell towards the barrier above the road, a stranger appeared and propped him up.
He then helped Mr LaVERN for the remaining mile, carrying his umbrella and briefcase.
When he got home and turned to thank his saviour, the man had disappeared.
Mr LaVERN, whose real surname is Jackson, is now hoping to find out who the man is so he can thank him.
He said: "I have led a crazy life but after this I have started trying to be a better boy.
"My ex-wife said it was my guardian angel."

This 'ROCK Star' must have had a 'crazy life' in another country, i've never heard of the bloke or the band? Hardly Mick Jagger is he...ha ha (sorry, really don't mean to be nasty, just a bit of fun).

It's nice to see that there are some decent people out there who are willing to help someone else in need.

Big Mo must be rather younger than I am if she has never heard of the Tornados. They were well known when I was of an age to be interested in pop music!

i met mr lavern last week in glassmill lane he is an amazing gentleman who is recovering from recent illness. he is handsome and well dressed and still has a twinkle in his eye, a bit like sean connery. musicians like roger introduced pop music to our parents and young people locally should google his name and they will instandly recognise his music.[italic]italic[/italic]

Hope his is feeling better after his blackout.
Didn't he get a chance to talk to this person who helped and walked with him for the remaining mile. It must have taken at least half an hour.
Perplexed.

It was probably a real angel that helped him. There are angels everywhere, just that you can't see them most of the time. They usually pretend to be ghosts! They also pretend to be spirit guides, and spirits etc. But really they are just angels playing with us lesser mortals!
