THREE people have died after the car in which they were travelling collided with a bus in Charlton.
The crash, involving a bendy bus and a Peugeot 106 carrying five people, happened in Little Heath, near the junction with Cemetery Lane, at around 6.30am on New Year's Day.
Three people, two females and one male, were killed in the collision.
Two others, a male and a female, were taken to hospital. Police have described their condition as serious.
Fire crews were called to the scene to cut the injured people out of the car.
At the time of the crash, the single-decker 453 bus was not in operation, and there was nobody but the driver, who was not injured, on board.
The bus was removed from the scene earlier today, but the road remains closed to traffic as police investigate the incident.
Football fans travelling to Charlton's game today were advised to find an alternative route to The Valley.
