The votes have been cast and the results are in – the winner of the News Shopper Curry Awards 2013 in North Kent is the Meopham Tandoori Restaurant.

The tandoori restaurant has been established 28 years in Meopham during which time its winning formula of great food and service has made it popular with fans of Indian cuisine.

The restaurant has obviously hit on a winning recipe for success as our readers voted it their number one choice for an Indian restaurant in the area.

News Shopper editor Andrew Parkes went along to present Jahir Ali, owner of the Meopham Tandoori with his award.

Jahir was clearly delighted to receive the award which is now on display in the restaurant. He said after the presentation: “This is a fantastic award and we are really honoured to win it.

“Everything we do is aimed at making our customers feel welcome and well treated - it is this that has made them so loyal and supportive.”

He added: “The staff love working here and many of our customers come back time and again, so we know we must be providing them with a good service.

“The chefs are all really experienced and over the years have learned exactly what people want to see on the menu.”

“I couldn't have chosen a better place to start a restaurant and I have never wanted to go anywhere else.”

The restaurant offers a huge choice of dishes with set meals, ‘supreme’ dishes, balti specialities, vegetarian, tandoori, poultry, lamb, seafood and house specialities all on the menu.

Tuesday night is banquet night when diners can enjoy a three course meal for two for just £11.50 per person.

Also popular is the Sunday buffet when offers everyone the chance to eat as much as they like for £8.50 per adult and £6.50 per child. The buffet is available from noon until 10pm. The buffet menu changes too, so there is no danger of being bored with what’s on offer.
