Five well-known Ugandan female singers are taking to the stage at Greenwich Theatre to celebrate Black History Month this month.

The Women of Kampala will be presented by the multifaceted Global Fusion Music and Arts group on Wednesday, October 14, at 7.30pm.

The singers – Milly Namuksa, Essence Kasozi, Barbara Wamala, Sarah Ndagire and Rachel Nabudde – have many albums to their names, but their styles are very different, ranging from Congolese dance music to deeply traditional Ugandan music. They will be backed by afro-soul guitarist, producer and vocalist Eben Oke and the Yoruba Soul-Jazz for an evening of new music and rich East African rhythms.

In the interval in the bar there will be an acoustic performance by visiting Botswana artist Masego Woki and her husband Aubrie Woki. Masego will be performing songs from her new album released on the Global Fusion Music & Arts record label.
