Sevenoaks District Council's chairman Councillor Bob Orridge's Christmas message

A COUNCIL'S chairman has thanked residents for their kindness and councillors for their hard work, as part of his Christmas message.

Sevenoaks District Council's chairman, Councillor Bob Orridge, said: "I feel very privileged to hold the office of Chairman of the Sevenoaks District Council, and in going around the District with my wife Sylvia carrying out the duties of the Office, we have met many good people who give so much of their time freely and voluntarily to helping those who are less fortunate, contributing to their welfare and happiness.

"We have been made most welcome at all local events to which we have been invited and we thank our residents for all their kindness."

He added: "The council staff deserve a tribute for all the hard work they do, not least of all for their dedicated support of the tradition of volunteering, and working with others outside the council to help to achieve the best things for residents of our District.

"We have made many memorable visits to venues both within and outside of the District, meeting and making friends with such people as the Lord Lieutenant, the High Sheriff and many other Dignitaries.

"I still have the remainder of my year to look forward to, during which time we no doubt will have the pleasure of meeting many more delightful people who contribute much to the welfare of the District

"I wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year."
