The whole area is getting festive as Christmas lights are switched on across Lewisham and Greenwich.

In Greenwich the traditional Christmas countdown began with pupils from four schools - St Alfege with St Peters, James Wolfe Primary School, Meridian Primary School and St Matthew Academy - taking part in a magical lantern parade with the help of local company ArtyParty.

Inspired by pantomime characters, the children's lanterns included a glass slipper, a massive cow, an enormous beanstalk and even seven dwarfs.
