HUNDREDS of hopefuls have been whittled down to 10, and now it’s time to decide your Child of the Year.

News Shopper’s contest has been searching for the cutest kids in south-east London and north Kent.

We visited five shopping centres, taking pictures of beautiful babies and adorable tots. A series of online votes have selected the 10 finalists on this page, and it’s up to you to decide who will be the overall winner of the competition.

The child who receives the most votes in our phone and text polls will be the champion for 2009 and win the following prizes:

• £250 to spend at Nigel Barrett Photography in Bexleyheath, either on a family sitting or a modelling portfolio for the winning child.
• A framed 20in x16in photo worth £130.
• A bundle of toys and games.

To vote, phone 0901 1510 and add the three-digit number under the child of your choice’s photo.

Or you can text CHILD followed by a space and the three-digit number for your favourite photo to 80360. Voting closes on July 29.

Each call costs 50p from a BT landline. Calls from mobiles and other networks may cost more. Texts cost 50p plus your normal operator charge. Telephone and text voting closes 29/07/2009 at 11.59pm.
