The fairy shop mother was delighted to present Wendy Jefferson with her prizes
A ‘BIG HEARTED’ ironing shop owner has been visited by The Glades fairy shop mother for being a real life saver.
Wendy Jefferson donated a kidney to one of the customers of her shop Wendy’s Ironing Services, Glebe Way, West Wickham, after finding out they needed a transplant.
And because of this selflessness she was nominated by Rebecca Jakeman in the shopping centre’s competition.
Ms Jakeman said: “Although the chances were slim Wendy offered to be tested to see if she was a match with the customer. “Unbelievably Wendy came back as a match so close they could have been siblings. “Most people at that point may have reconsidered but Wendy didn't even think twice and donated her kidney. “The lady is now in full health as is Wendy and we believe she deserves an extra special treat for her big heart and generosity.”
Ms Jefferson has been presented with a selection of prizes from Oasis, Whittards and Debenhams.
Marketing manager for The Glades Maria Cooper said: “We are thrilled to be rewarding Wendy with such a lovely surprise.
“She truly is an inspiration to us all and we’re honoured to have the opportunity to recognise her selflessness.
“We hope she enjoys her fabulous treats.” Fairy Shop Mother aims to reward unsung heroes of the community.
