A PLAN to demolish a line of old buildings near Deptford Bridge station has been given the go ahead.
The row of shops and flats along Deptford Bridge Road, some of which date back to 1830, have become rundown over the years.
One of the buildings, which run from 33 to 49, was the scene of a fire which caused chaos in the area last year.
Once knocked down, they are set to be replaced with buildings up to seven storeys high, including 23 homes and new commercial space.
In their report Greenwich Council officers wrote: "The site is located between the town centres of Deptford and Greenwich, in a vibrant and developing area, and it is considered that the provision of a high quality residential led mixed use development would bring new people to a sustainable location."
A planning board approved the proposals by developer VFund last week.
