Dementia home hit with safety warnings

A NURSING home for dementia sufferers has been hit with two warning notices for safety failings.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has called for urgent improvements to be made at the Bromley Park Dementia Nursing Home in Bromley Road, Beckenham.

It issued the two notices following unannounced inspections of the 50-bed home in May.

Inspectors found that care plans did not adequately reflect the individual needs of residents.

They also said nutrition plans were not sufficiently detailed and that there was a lack of guidance on how to manage specific health needs.

Care plans had not always been updated and a far greater level of support was required.

Deputy director of the CQC in London Matthew Trainer said: "The standards of quality and safety in care that CQC checks are those that the law says everyone should expect. These standards exist to protect vulnerable people - who cannot always speak up for themselves - from being put at risk of harm.

"Providers have a duty to make sure that the care and treatment they deliver meets the essential standards that everyone is legally entitled to expect. When care plans are not kept up to date this presents a serious risk that people will not receive care that meets their needs.

"Our inspectors will return in the near future to carry out another unannounced inspection. If we find that the home is not making the required progress we won’t hesitate to use our legal powers further to protect the people who live there."

The home has been approached for comment.

It's Me again ! says...

Having been inside this place I can confirm it is like hell on earth. How it is even allowed be open is beyond me.
It needs closing down and the poor patients need moving somewhere safe
