Bromley was one of the first areas in the country to sign up to the British Heart Foundation’s initiative which is part of the charity’s appeal to fund £50m of groundbreaking research.

This research will look at how cells grow in order to find clues about how the human heart can be repaired and events will take place across the borough next year to help raise the money.

Portfolio holder for public resources Councillor Graham Arthur said: “I am delighted to be celebrating our first year as a heart town.

“Next year we want to continue to help raise awareness about British Heart Foundation's fight against heart disease as well as support their fund raising initiatives.”
