X Factor stars, West End pros and arguably the definitive Jesus have been named in the cast for Jesus Christ Superstar, which debuts in Bromley before heading off around the country.

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s rock opera – which caused controversy and sensation when it was first performed in 1971 – will return to the stage in January.

It opens at The Churchill Theatre from Thursday, January 21 to Saturday, January 24.

Having played the role in the West End, on Broadway and on film, Glenn Carter is set to return as Jesus.

Welsh double platinum singer and X Factor runner up Rhydian Roberts, who has since become a West End star, will play Pontius Pilot.

Aussie West End star Tim Rogers and X Factor finalist Rachel Adedeji are also included in the stellar cast.
