A group of museum lovers put together a fundraising tea party near the home of every Londoner's favourite walrus.

The Friends of the Horniman got together 18 people for the bash, which raised around £200 for the Forest Hill venue.

Gerry Tompkins from the group said they were also treated to a lively talk about the area's restoration following bombing in the Second World War.

She said: "All the money will go to the Horniman, probably for children's events."

The London Road museum is currently holding its Extremes exhibition, showing visitors how animals and plants survive in extreme heat, cold, dryness and constant darkness or with little oxygen.
