A man in his 40s has died from a heart attack at a Lidl distribution centre in Northfleet.

The man collapsed at the site on Crete Hall Road at around 9am this morning (August 13).

Despite receiving CPR from colleagues and South East Coast Ambulance (SECAMB) crews the man, who is believed to be a lorry driver, was pronounced dead at the scene.

SECAMB sent an ambulance and a car to the warehouse.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called to reports that a man had collapsed at a warehouse in Crete Hall Road.

"When we arrived he had suffered a cardiac arrest and paramedics took over CPR from those already on the scene.

"We are very thankful for those who tried to help but sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene."

Kent police officers also attended.

A spokesman for Lidl said: "We can confirm that a gentleman working for one of our transport agencies sadly passed away at our Northfleet warehouse today after staff and emergency services were unable to resuscitate him.

"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family at this time and we will be in touch with them personally to offer our sympathies. We will, of course, be assisting the police in any way we can with their enquiries."
